Guetta, Simo
Son of Azura and Rachel. He was born in 1948 in Tripoli, Libya, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1946. He studied at the Ashkelon elementary school and taught in the framework of vocational training in the city, He was an exemplary son, loved his family more than anything and was very attached to it, and Simo joined the IDF in late February 1968. After basic training he was transferred to an engineering corps. There he was an excellent and disciplined soldier, and he fulfilled his duties with great devotion. In his unit he also successfully passed a plasim course. On July 17, 1969, Tarash Simo was killed while carrying out his duties on the banks of the Suez Canal. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Ashkelon. In a letter of condolences to the family, his commander wrote: “The late Simo was a dedicated and disciplined soldier. He was aware of what was going on in his home and often expressed his desire to help his family. “A Torah scroll in his memory was brought to the synagogue in Ashkelon.
