Gueta, Eli


Eli, son of Miriam and Rachamim, was born on 20.3.1950 in Alexandria, Egypt, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1952. The Gueta family joined Moshav Limorim in the Lachish region,When asked to hear details of his life in the army, he would answer: “Everything is fine, there are no problems.” In the summer of 1971 he was released from regular service, returned to Moshav Timurim and invested all his energies in developing the agriculture. He worked in the carpentry workshop and was involved in all branches of the agriculture. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Eli was called to reserve duty. He was sent to the northern front and participated in the battle against the Syrians. While providing medical help to the injured, in the midst of the shelling near El-Al, Eli was injured and died of his wounds on the 10th of Tishrei 5734 (October 10, 1973). He was brought to rest in the cemetery in Moshav Timurim. He was survived by a father, mother and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the defense minister wrote: “Eli, of blessed memory, served in the Medical Corps. He was a good soldier and a loyal friend. Eli was loved by everyone who knew him. “
