Grossman, Yosef


Son of Shoshana and Avraham, was born on 21 March 1930 in Haifa, to a family of workers. He studied at the Bialik School for six years and spent two years in the children’s kibbutz at Kibbutz Heftzi-Baha, then studied regrets at the vocational school in Haifa and helped his father in his work. Yosef was active in the ranks of the “Gadna”, and as a member of the “Mahanot Ha’olim”, he joined the “Yiftah” Brigade, which was part of the “Yiftah” Brigade, accompanied by convoys from Tiberias to the Galilee settlements, the liberation of Tiberias and the siege of Ein Zeitim. And participated in the battles for the liberation of the city.In the difficult battle for the conquest of the citadel, on 1 May 1948, he and two comrades attacked an enemy position against a barrage of gunfire. “We have already tried a few times before and have not succeeded, and if we do not advance this time, we will never be able to conquer it,” he replied with a smile on his lips. The smile remained frozen on his face as he fell there with a burst of machine-gun bullets in his Lev. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Safed
