Gropi, Eliyahu


Eliyahu, son of Bracha and Yehia, was born in Tel Aviv on 2 November, 1951. On October 20, 1973, he fought with his unit in Sinai. He jumped on the first truck in the convoy to the front. His truck was hit in the shelling and he was wounded and put in an ambulance. The ambulance was also hit on the way to the hospital and Eliyahu was killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. His parents donated a Torah scroll to a synagogue in their place of residence.
