Gronich, Yaron


Yaron, son of Geula and Aharon, was born on 14.11.1953 in Hadera and studied at the elementary school in his hometown, where he continued his studies at Hadasim High School in Hadassim He was a good student and disciplined, He was a handsome and pleasant young man, with a smiling and good face, he had a musical talent and he excelled in playing the trumpet among his friends. He was known as a sociable and energetic person, serious and profound in his attitude to life, honest and conscientious. He was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-February 1972 and at the beginning of his service was a player in a military orchestra, but was later assigned to the IAF. After completing basic training, he took a course in maintenance of safety and rescue equipment and was assigned to an air force base, where he was also given the rank of corporal. He was a good and quiet soldier, disciplined and devoted to his work, a loyal friend of the soldiers in his unit and a friend of everyone he knew, friends and commanders alike. On the 18th of Tishrei 5734 (October 18, 1973) Yaron fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the Hadera cemetery. Survived by his parents and brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. His commander said about him: “Yaron has fulfilled all his duties in a satisfactory and best way, a great loss for us and we do not forget him.” His friends in the unit set up a small club in his memory at the base of a place where he served and fell, and named him after him.
