Avraham (Avi), son of Hedva and Gideon Greenzweig, was born in Petach Tikva in 1993. On 23.11.2011 he enlisted in the IDF and reached the “Shaham” Battalion 931 in the Nahal Brigade. He went through an arduous course of basic training, advanced training, and a track company in Hebron, and then received the battalion pin and went up to the veteran company, the operational unit. During the service he was sent to a sniper course, which he successfully completed. In the course of his service, Avi received from the Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Sharon, a medal of excellence for his performance in the company. During the service, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and at the beginning of 2014 he was appointed to two valued positions – the liaison of the company’s deputy commander and the deputy of the company’s sergeant. He was an example of how a combatant behaves. Staff Sergeant Avraham Greenzweig fell during Operation Tzuk Eitan on 28 Tamuz, July 25, 2014, when he rushed back to the battlefield to help the wounded. The second time he tried to evacuate another wounded man, he was injured and died of his injuries when he reached the security fence that separates the State of Israel from the Gaza Strip. Avraham was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Segula, Petach Tikva, leaving his wife, parents and a twin sister.
