Greenstein, Yosef (Yossele)


Son of Leah and Aharon, was born on the 24th of Elul, September 23, 1924 in Tel Aviv. The family lived in Holon. He studied correspondence at the Jerusalem School of Electrical Engineering, radio and telephone. At the age of 15 Yoseph entered the ranks of the Haganah and underwent a signal course. He worked as an assistant to a mechanic at the Montefiore Technical Institute, and was active in the organizational life of military personnel. With the UN General Assembly resolution on the partition of the country he joined the Givati ​​Brigade and was one of the first fighters to fight in Bat Yam, Jabalya, Tel Arish, Hulda and Jerusalem. Onthe 3rd of Iyar, May 5, 1948, Yoseph fell while accompanying a convoy near Deir Ayyub and was brought to eternal rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
