Greenhouse, Avinoam (Evic)


Avinoam, son of Rachel Lea and Avraham, Greenhouse was born on the 9th of Elul, August 22, 1931 in Haifa. After completing his studies, he became a locksmith and found satisfaction in his work. He was an enthusiastic member of the United Movement. When he turned 15, he joined the Haganah and took part in several activities at the beginning of the War of Independence, including the first punitive action against the Arab village of Ein Ghazal.
Once the British arrested him while searching his station, but a day later he was released from prison. On the 10th of Adar 2, 5708 (March 21, 1948), when he embarked on his last activity as a combatant in the Carmeli Brigade, a house was detonated in the lower city of Haifa. After being injured, he told his comrades to continue the operation, and he was eventually transferred to the Rothschild Hospital. He asked in every language not to inform his parents of his injury. After five hours of suffering he died of his wounds. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery of Haifa.
