Greenberg, Shimon-Aharon


Son of Henia and Yehuda, was born in 1910 in the city of Pabianitz near Lodz, Poland.In 1922 Shimon-Aharon immigrated with his family to Israel. In the 1929 riots he was one of the defenders of the Jewish settlement in Jaffa. During the Second World War Shimon-Aharon served as deputy commander of the Gd Battalion of Gush Dan, and since the UN General Assembly resolution on the partition of the country in November 1947, he was regularly assigned to guard duty and served in the Kiryati Brigade. In the course of his duties, Shimon-Aharon was seriously injured in the battle on the village of Anu on 4 Sivan, June 11, 1948, and died of his wounds. Shimon-Aharon was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. He was surivied by his wife Miriam, and three sons.
