Greenberg, Sami (Shmuel)
Son of Sandela and Lazar. He was born in Romania in 1913. After completing his studies at the Galatz Commercial School, he enlisted in the Romanian army and served in the rank of sergeant, although his family was partially assimilated and lacked deep roots in Hebrew culture, was caught in Zionism and joined the Gordonia movement. In 1934, after a period of training in a farm in Romania, he immigrated with his group to Eretz Israel and worked first with her in Pardes Hanna and later in Betnia. Where he joined the “Batlem” group and worked in Nahalat Yehuda and Jerusalem He was a member of Kibbutz Ein-Gev, where he was sworn in as a member of Haganah, and he was very self-taught, and he went to study painting in Tel Aviv. He went to the city to promote his artistic talents, and in chess he also discovered outstanding talents and was considered one of the most talented players in the Haifa Chess Association, and one day when he returned from guard duty and unloaded his pistol, he was taken to the hospital in Tiberias and the next day, on the 7th of Iyar, 8.5.1938), died of his wounds.
