Greenberg, Philip

Son of Sarah and Joseph. He was born in 1892 and lived in Manchester, England, where he volunteered during World War I. He volunteered for the Jewish Legion – the 38th Battalion of the King’s Slayer, and together with the Gdud came to Eretz Israel to participate in the conquest from the Turks. On the way to Nablus and the battle on the Jordan Ma’abarot, on the day of Tu Bishvat (16.1.1919), when the battalion in Rafah died of pneumonia and was brought to rest in the British military cemetery in Deir al-Balah.
