Ben Bruria and Ehud. He was born on February 19, 1981 in Haifa. A cute baby, beloved and handsome, the eldest son of his parents and eldest of grandchildren in the family. When he was about two years old, he became an older brother to twins Eitan and Ido, who had friends all along and for them – a role model and admiration. He grew up in the Ahuza neighborhood and became a smart, pleasant, happy and happy boy. Elad began his studies at the Zichron Yosef elementary school, where he studied until the sixth grade. In the middle of his first year, he traveled with his family to Iowa City, where he continued to study until the end of the school year. He was well integrated into the new place – both in school and in the company of the children – he had many experiences and enjoyed himself. At the end of that year the family returned to Israel and Elad returned to the familiar framework, to his friends in the neighborhood and at school. From 7th through 12th grade, he studied at the Ironi Hey school in Haifa and finished it in a beautiful and respectful way, especially in the field of biology, which he studied with great interest and achieved great achievements. He was also very fond of reading and enjoying various types of literature: science fiction, philosophy and philosophy, thrillers and adventures, and he managed to combine his studies with other activities and pursuits. And the house was always crowded and full of joie de vivre Being a true friend, loyal and devoted, sensitive and considerate, he was always very well connected with his twin brother, and as a senior brother he knew how to lead them, always willing to listen, guide, advise and support every area and every problem. He has a special sense of humor and is careful about the dignity of others – not insulting or humiliating, very modest, shy and quiet, but in his safe way he insists on his principles, desires and opinions And has a wise and practical answer. And especially the smile, a smile that was on his face, a smile with an overwhelming, pleasant, soothing and warm effect. Even before he enlisted, he decided to serve in a combat unit and it was only natural for him. At the end of July 1999, he enlisted in the IDF and joined the Nachshon Battalion, where he served with great pride until his dying day. Elad served as a platoon commander who led his soldiers in fighting terror against terrorist cells. During his military service he grew up very much. He has demonstrated responsibility, ability to make decisions, sensitive and precise diagnosis and the ability to deal with problems and difficulties in various situations. He never complained, he did his job willingly, faithfully and devotedly, and was at peace with himself and with his doing. Even when he came home for vacations, he was preoccupied with the week and planning this week. One of the sentences, which he would repeat over and over again, was “We need good soldiers” and this will be implemented in practice. He invested a great deal of thought, time and effort and kept his eyes off the goal he had set for himself, and that “in the end I would have a good department.” Elad was a beloved and admired commander who cared for his soldiers, nurtured them and turned them into a cohesive unit and professional fighters. He was always willing to listen attentively, to advise, to support and to encourage, while he could demand hard work, meticulousness, care and precision when he was a personal example of everything he demanded of his soldiers. His commanders testify that he was an exemplary commander and a role model, and his subordinates say that he wasBlindfolded him and followed him wholeheartedly because he had instilled confidence, hope, and trust in themselves. His soldiers also say that he fought valiantly for moral values and never compromised on justice. He adheres to the values he believed in: evil, professionalism, discipline and human dignity, and instilled them in his soldiers. In addition, Elad set a new and personal value for his department: Family Value. This was expressed by a paternal concern that stemmed from him – despite the rigid and distant facade he projected: from a hot cup of tea he had given to a soldier in the watchtower on a cold night through a night guard exit instead of a soldier who was tired and unable to find a substitute for a calm conversation with a worried mother From his pocket. His commanders know how to strive for excellence and meticulous planning and execution of every program up to the last detail. “The personal example that he gave as a commander and as a man will produce more commanders in his image and in his way …” “Under the inspiration and leadership of your son, the IDF and the State enjoy sons who are characterized by his character and diligence.” On July 17, 2002, Elad fell in battle in Emanuel, twenty one. Elad led his platoon to pursue a terrorist squad that carried out an attack in Emmanuel the previous day, which took seven victims and wounded many. Early in the morning, Nachshon Battalion soldiers encountered terrorists hiding in the Qana River. One of the terrorists was identified with certainty and the chase continued until he was shot and killed. There were fierce exchanges of fire, during which Elad was killed and three soldiers were wounded. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, leaving behind his parents and twin brothers – Eitan and Ido. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. In the lines of the personal inscription on his tombstone, his family engraved the words “a hero of the world, a child with a smile of angels.” Elad’s memory was produced with a memorial booklet containing pictures, newspaper clippings describing his character and the circumstances of his fall, as well as letters written by commanders and officers, members of the service and members of the family. In addition, scholarships were awarded in his name and were prepared to commemorate scientific conferences in the field of cardiology. The battalion commander wrote: “Elad, you fell when you led your soldiers along with the soldiers to locate and injure a terrorist cell that hit many residents … The same squad that killed less than a year in nineteen civilians and wounded dozens of people in Emmanuel and elsewhere. “The Nahshon family continues today in its wounded and painful way on the death of a great commander.” Your pleasant manner, your aspiration for excellence and your work, will always illuminate our path, and you will always be proud of the special son you raised and raised. “Your memory will be blessed.”
