Son of Naima and Abraham, was born in 1944 in Iraq. When he was 11 years old, Yaakov immigrated with his parents to Israel. His family settled in Be’er Sheva, where he received a partial elementary education. At a young age, Yaakov went to work to help support the family. In August 1962, Yaakov enlisted in the IDF and served as a truck driver and heavy-duty vehicle, and continued to serve in this position after he was discharged from the army as a soldier in the reserves. Yaakov was promoted to corporal. He continued to serve as a reservist driver, even when he was called to enlist in the Peace for Galilee War. He served in Lebanon when the war broke out and returned to serve in July 1983. On July 25, 1983, when he was driving in a truck near the border fence in Lebanon, a tank he had bought was aimed at the road. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva, where he left a wife, four sons, a daughter, three sisters and two brothers, in a letter of condolence to his family: “Yaakov served in my unit for seven years as a driver, He loved all the soldiers in the battalion. He performed all the tasks entrusted to him with great devotion. Volunteer to perform tasks and do everything that is best done to him “
