With the outbreak of the War of Independence he devoted himself to his duties in the Hagana, and as a trainee and a combat soldier in the Givati Brigade. (22.3.1948), after a short farewell visit to his parents, he participated in the attack on Jabalya, and his unit left Bat Yam and the pillbox was positioned there, and the position was purified and Yehuda placed the explosive charge in it to blow it up. He detonated the charge, made a mistake and ran toward the enemy position. His friends’ efforts to rescue him were unsuccessful because of heavy enemy fire and they had to retreat. His body has not been found to this day. A monument in his memory was erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
