Goshen, Raphael


Ben Dora and Hermann. Rafael was born in Russia on December 14, 1942. The family immigrated to Israel when he was 6. At the age of eighteen, Raphael enlisted in the IDF. He later joined the Israel Police. He served in various capacities for twenty-six years, and his last position was in the Galilee region – commander of the Galilee detention center, with the rank of superintendent. Rafael fulfilled all his duties faithfully and devotedly. He liked the police service and as an officer he was very fond of his co-workers. In his spare time, he liked art, such as oil painting and wood sculpture. On February 7, 1993, on the way back from the graduation ceremony of his son who served in Givati, Raphael was killed in a car accident. The day was rainy and stormy, and next to the company junction, the police car he was driving slid into a light pole. He was fifty years old. He was buried in the Karmiel cemetery.
