Goren, Yigal
Son of Shlomo and Esther. He was born on August 28, 1939 in Bnei Brak. He studied at the Maalot Elementary School, where he studied for one year in Kfar Haroeh, but completed his studies at the Max Payne Vocational School, where he worked as a driving instructor, loved sports and was engaged in a chess game at leisure. When he completed compulsory service, he continued in the regular army for four years and reached the rank of captain as an armament officer. Then he moved to civilian life. In the days of alert for the Six-Day War, he was in reserve duty and during this period he protected his comrades from the rest of his spirit and wisdom, as his battalion commander writes about him in a letter of condolence to his family. Had a humane attitude and efficiency in the work and aroused admiration in the eyes of his commanders and subordinates for his organizational ability and performance – all with peace of mind and with great confidence. Was wounded in the battle on Givat Hamam in the Golan Heights by an enemy shell that hit his armored caterpillar and on Tuesday, June 11, 1967 he died of his wounds, left a wife, was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and later taken to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. In his memory bearing his name, Kibbutz Hulata was issued by the “thirty” to his death.
