Goren, Jacob (Jackie)

Was born on 12.2.1936 in Tel Aviv and attended the “Geula” elementary school. During the War of Independence he assisted defenders in positions on the Tel Aviv-Jaffa border. In one of the clashes with the enemy, on the 23rd of Adar 5708 (February 23, 1948), he fell while fulfilling his duties – and he was only 12 years old. Since then his remains have not been discovered and his burial place is unknown. A monument in his memory was erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
