Goren, Erez


Erez, son of Naomi and Aharon, was born on December 7, 1951. He studied there at the Brenner elementary school and later continued his studies at the military boarding school near the Reali School in Haifa. His hobbies were sailing, underwater fishing and building airplane models, and he devoted a great deal of his spare time to him, and he was an entrepreneur and an expert in hands. He was an individual who was interested in them, and since he was resourceful, he usually knew how to solve problems he encountered. He was very friendly and kind, and he was always kind and willing, and always willing to help others. True and conscientious, sensitive to every act of discrimination and injustice, open-hearted and pleasant, conversational and articulate, he excelled in a clear and intelligent manner, and was intelligent and serious, Erez was drafted into the IDF in early 1969 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing basic training, he completed a course for infantry commanders, a tank course, an officers’ course, a course for armored officers and a course for battalion commanders in the armored corps. He was a responsible and dedicated officer, with excellent professional knowledge and a will and ability. He cared for his subordinates and they loved him very much and had good relations. He did not insist on strict discipline, but demanded exact execution in all tasks. He was awarded the Operational Service Award for his part in operational activities. After completing his compulsory service, he volunteered to serve in the regular army. On the first night of the Yom Kippur War, Erez fought in the central sector of Sinai. While he was commanding a tank company on its way to the attacked strongholds, Erez was wounded by an ambush of Egyptian infantry soldiers, and on the day of 16 th November 1973 he died of his wounds and the next day he was laid to rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. Left behind a father, a mother and two sisters, who were later promoted to the rank of captain, and wrote to the bereaved family: “Erez stuck to his mission,
