The son of Gina and Jacob. He was born on October 15, 1934 in Poland and immigrated to Israel at the age of nine in 1943. His first steps in the field of aviation were the “Flying Camel”, a sports club for young people in Tel Aviv, In 1952 he enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces, completed a pilot course in the reconnaissance squadron at Sde Dov, and until then he completed his training course in the Air Force. April 1955 served on the light aircraft of the 100 Squadron. In May 1956 he joined the Israel Police as a pilot. The Piper planes were then maintained by the Air Force. On 27 October 1956, two days before the Sinai Campaign, he was drafted into the reserves and assigned to the 100th Squadron. During the war, he carried out liaison and transport tasks. On Tuesday afternoon, November 6, after the end of the campaign, a festive victory was held in Sharm el-Sheikh. From there, Benjamin flew GOC Southern Command Colonel Asaf Simhoni on a Piper A-Tur plane to visit units. Toward evening, the plane took off from A-Tur towards the Ramat David base. Due to a strong wind and poor visibility, the light aircraft drifted away from the Arava towards the eastern bank of the Jordan River. It crashed on one of the cliffs in the area of the Crusader fortress of Horbat Qala’at a-Rabed, about three kilometers southwest of Ajlun and about twenty-five kilometers southeast of Beit Shean. After the plane did not reach its destination at Ramat David and made no contact, planes were dispatched to search for him, but it was too late. Lieutenant Colonel Asher Dromi, General Staff Liaison Officer in the Sinai Campaign and pilot Benjamin Gordon, was killed on November 6, 1956, and was buried in the police section of the Kiryat Military Cemetery borrowed.
