Golowicki, Chaim
Son of Alta and Dov. He was born in 1896 in the town of Petrikov in Minsk, Russia. In 1921, when he was about 25 years old, he immigrated to Eretz Israel after passing the immigration stations that were accepted at the time: Warsaw, Cracow, Pressburg, Vienna, Trieste. When he arrived in Israel, he joined the “Achva” group, which was then called the Builders’ Group and was located in Petah Tikva. Some members of the Achva group joined forces with members of the “Grodno” group of Ahdut Ha’avoda, including Haim. He was drawn to manual labor and did various construction works: plaster, flooring, carpentry, and fingers. After several years of work in Rishon Letzion, Nahalat Yehuda, Balfouria and other places he joined the Moshav “Atarot” (then “Qalandia”) which was established on the Jerusalem-Nablus road. His first years in the moshav were fraught with difficulties, which were the lot of all the settlers, but the moshav developed into a farm of life, Yaffa and flourishing. He also brought in his parents, brother and sister. On the 24th of Tammuz 5636 (June 24, 1936), while on guard duty during an Arab attack on the Yishuv, he was shot and killed, leaving a wife and daughter, father and mother, brothers and sisters.
