Goldstein (Zehavi), Zvi
Son of Alexander and Rosalia. Was born on May 11, 1947 in the city of Turkomorsh in Romania. Zvi did not finish seventh grade in this country because the family immigrated to Israel in 1960. He studied in the eighth grade at the religious institution in Kfar Batya, and later in ninth grade. Afterward he studied at the Mizrahi School in Jerusalem and completed his high school studies. He belonged to the Ha – Po’el ha – Mizrachi movement. He liked to read books. Was a social man and was known among his friends as an activist in arranging events and for reasons that could be trusted. He was naturally cheerful and loved to play the accordion and his music delighted his friends and family, and even during his visit to his grandfather’s house he would enjoy his life by singing and playing. In August 1966, he enlisted in the IDF and volunteered for the Navy, where he wanted to serve in the submarines, and in June 1967 he was ordained as a submarine, and Zvi chose the underwater role that requires an intellectual level and honesty in reporting and analysis for everything he delivers. The crew was loved by anyone who knew him, and Zvi was sent to England to join the Dakar crew and later on, on the way back from England, on the sea route between Gibraltar and Haifa, the connection with it was suddenly cut off and not renewed again, on the 24th of Tevet, (25.1.1968) Since Zvi was one of the missing members of the team, he was placed with a memorial monument in the monument to the “Dakar” At the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem on 28.5.1999, after years of searching, the INS Dakar submarine was found on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, at a depth of 2,900 meters on its planned sailing route and at a distance of 250 miles From the port of Haifa. This fallen hero is a “maklan” – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
