Goldstein (Paz), Zvi

Son of Shlomo and Michal. He was born on 26.5.1953 in Kibbutz Hahotrim on the Carmel coast. Even at a very young age, when he was in a nursery school, kindergarten and first grade, it became clear that Zvika’s most striking characteristic was the quiet and introverted. He never quarreled with friends his age or with his older brothers and sisters. Knew how to occupy himself, even when his family or friends were not with him. Almost all of his elementary and secondary studies were done by Zvika in Kibbutz Hahotrim. He spent only his last year of studies and his matriculation exams at the joint school in Kibbutz Ma’agan Michael. He was also very quiet in school, did not show his knowledge, was not very active in classes, leaving the impression that he was having trouble studying. On the tests, however, he surprised his teachers and discovered that he had absorbed the material well and thoroughly. He also showed goodwill and responsibility in every task that the company imposed on him. Zvika was a tall, handsome young man who captivated the girls in his class. His interest in sports was great and varied. His kibbutz lies on the seashore, and therefore attracted his Lev and imagination from all over the sea. He was a member of the Department of Limmud and Water Sports in Sde-Yam and Ha-Po’el Hahotrim. He served in these circles as a marine instructor. One of his great pleasures was sailing by boat on the waves of the sea. As part of this activity he conducted, prior to his induction, a voyage to Iyun. But he did not repeat his preoccupation with “land” sports: he played volleyball and basketball in the local national leagues, in the Hapoel Hahotrim uniform. While studying, Zvika worked in the Shlachin branch of the kibbutz. His interests included painting, music and technology. The parents testify that he was blessed with “gold hands.” Through the application of strong internal discipline he managed to engage in many different fields of business, without getting tired and without neglecting the main thing. When the time for enlistment in the regular army approached, in November 1971, Zvika saw his natural position in the naval commando. He took the hard tests and was assigned to the unit he so longed for. The beginning of a lot of tedious courses began. Zvika stood in all the tribulations and advanced confidently in the ranks: Corporal, sergeant, sergeant, sergeant, wearing the wings of the paratroopers and the wings of the commando, in the words of his superiors: “Very quiet, “Zvika took part in the Yom Kippur War and carried out special and high-risk missions: Zvika was released and served for three years in compulsory military service, And the fourth year – in the permanent army – and there was a disaster, while diving training at the Haifa port, and he fell in the performance of his duties – on the ninth of Tammuz 5765 (18.6.1975). He was brought to rest at Kibbutz Hahotrim. Survived by his parents, three sisters and a brother. In a letter of condolences to Zvika’s parents, his commander wrote: “Zvika was a unique figure in the family of fighters, who combined superbly the qualities of a fighter and a man, few of whom were like him. A man who was modest, thoughtful, loving and gentle – which gave him love, appreciation and sympathy among the fighters and civilians he came into contact with.Zvika was killed in an accident, which is very rare , But possible on the subject and the means that dealt with them … It is important for us to know that you had a son, who served in the unit only the best More accepted in her company, and he is among the best in the family of fighters. “
