Bombardments and shelling on the small outpost and occasionally an enemy assault and infantry attack on one of our platoons guarding the hill. We waited for reinforcements to come and replace the people who were tired to death, but it did not arrive. In the morning the enemy surrounded the small outpost with tanks and many of its defenders fell during the retreat, among them Eliezer, who was hit by a bullet in the back. On that day we returned and conquered the outpost and found it among the fallen. “Eliezer fell on the 5th of Tishrei 5709 (October 5, 1948) and was buried in Mishmar Hanegev.
