Goldschmidt, Moshe (Musa)
Son of Rachel and Lulu and Meir (both Hebrew teachers at the Alliance school in Damascus). He was born on 18.1.1928 in Damascus, the capital of Syria. When he was one and eight months old, he was circumcised by his mother and brought to Israel to his grandmother, mother of his mother, and his aunt Esther, and was educated there until the age of seven. Then he returned to his father, graduated with honors from the Alliance school, took French and Arabic examinations and received government certificates, from the French government in French and from the Arab government in Arabic. When he was 13 and a half, he made aliyah to Israel via the northern border, reached Jerusalem and finished the Hebrew Gymnasium there. Was an art lover, mainly painting and music. After his black Sabbath (29.6.1946), he was taken to the detention camp in Rafah and released after he changed his surname to Neiman, in order to evade surveillance by the British Intelligence during his service in the Hagana. He was able to return safely from dangerous places and bring important information: Moshe completed a sabotage course and on the Egyptian invasion day was commander of a platoon in Nir Am, who was successfully deployed near Mordechai, successfully carrying out explosions, sabotage and requisitions to delay the enemy’s progress And drew the fire of the Egyptians to allow the children to be taken out of Mordecai’s hand, and in this action he fell on the 16th day May 20, 1948. Moshe was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery at Yad Mordechai.
