Goldman, Y.


Son of Shmuel. He was born in Biroslaw, Poland, and from there immigrated to Eretz Israel. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and was assigned to the 603 Company of the Israel Defense Forces. He served in Egypt and in the Western Desert – in Marsa Matruh, Sulom and Tobruk. In March 1941, he was sent to Greece with the force intended to stop the German invasion of this country. At the end of April the corps surrendered and most of its men were captured. Goldman tried to escape the fate of surrender and captivity and during the escape, on April 29, 1941, (or some time later) was killed and his burial place is unknown.
