Goldman, Pinchas (“Pini”)

Son of Yosef and Tzipora. He was born on March 23, 1938, in Jerusalem, where he studied at the Tachkemoni School, where he began working in the factory that belonged to his father. A few months before his release he moved to command and after completing his regular service he left his hometown and left for Tel Aviv. From November 1959 to March 1962 he served in the Israel Police. Returned to Jerusalem, a year later married and worked in construction with his father. He was honest, loving work and being in charge of workers showed a sense of responsibility and concern both for them and for work. Always aspired to make progress on his own. One of his qualities was the love of man. On his return to Tel Aviv, he built an apartment for himself but did not have time to live there for one year. On the eve of Yom HaAtzma’ut 5727 he completed his service in the reserves, but on the declaration of the Six Day War, he was called again, and on 26.6.1967, 26 Iyar, the first day of the battles, when a battle took place near Sheikh Abdul Aziz in the outskirts of Jerusalem, his unit was ordered to cleanse this post north of Castel, but then his commander fell and Pinchas took his place. Pinchas urged his soldiers to attack the enemy. In this battle he was killed, and he was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. His name is mentioned in the book “Asa”. His name was also immortalized in the journal of the construction workers’ union Yesodot.
