Goldman, Michael (Mike)


Michael, the son of Naomi and Chaim (Heiman), who returned to settle in Israel, was born on September 10, 1952. In the city of Port-Elizabeth, South Africa, he immigrated to Israel with his family in 1953. He was an outstanding student and since his early childhood he was impressed by the stories of the heritage of heroism and devotion of the Jewish people in the Diaspora and in his country, as well as inspiration and example in this field found in his home. On October 7, 1973, Michael fought as a commander of a tank division in the Maorak area on the banks of the Suez Canal, in an attempt to stop the crossing of the Egyptian forces and their penetration into the stronghold.
