Goldfarb, David
Son of Elazar. He was born in 1901 in Russia, where he acquired his education. At the outbreak of the civil war he volunteered for the Red Army and took part in many battles. After the upheaval of the regime in the Soviet Union, his disappointment with communism increased, and he fled Russia and immigrated to Palestine. As a laborer he successfully managed a complex of orchards and packing houses that were owned by non-residents and won a prize at the Fair of the East in 1936 for the cultivation and improvement of Valencia varieties in Israel. As a veteran soldier, he joined the ranks of the Haganah and on its behalf was sent during the bloody riots of 1936-1939 to defend various settlements. In one place, standing on guard, he was shot from ambush by an Arab assassin who shot him with a shotgun. The little iron balls sprayed his body. A piece of shrapnel reached his head. David died of his wounds in February 1941. He was laid to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery. Left a wife and daughter.
