Goldberg, Rachel
Daughter of Sima and Shlomo, was born on 27.3.1963 in Netivot, the town to which her parents moved from Rishon Letzion to help the Yishuv and develop the Negev, and when she was a child her parents returned to Rishon LeZion, where she completed her studies at the religious- She continued her studies at the “HaRo’e” high school in Ramat Gan, where she was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement at the Rishon Le-Zion branch, and later guided the young people in this movement and contributed to shaping their image on Saturday programs in the evenings In the summer camps and in similar apprenticeship activities, she discovered talent in sewing, knitting, and enamel work.Ruchela hoped that after her discharge from military service she would succeed In October 1981, Rochelle enlisted to serve as a teacher-soldier in the framework of the Torah Culture Department and was sent to an educational work at the community center at Bar-Yochai in the Galilee, where she taught older women to read and write and enriched them with general knowledge In the afternoon, she was involved in educating the younger generation in the moshav, and Ruchla was outstanding in her work and was promoted to corporal. She forged warm ties in the moshav and in the community center, and captivated her with her appearance, her smile, her kindness, and her dedication to the role she was assigned. In the fall of 1982 Rachel became ill and was taken to hospital for treatment. Her illness increased, and on the eve of Succot, on the 14th of Tishrei 5743 (October 1, 1982), she died, and she was 19 years old. Rachel was laid to rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. She left behind her parents and five brothers and sisters. In its memory, an Early Childhood Education Center was established in Rishon LeZion and a benevolent fund for the needy
