Goldberg, Moshe-Yechiel

Moshe Yechiel, son of Pesia and Israel Goldberg, was born on February 28, 1932, in the city of Plenitz, Poland, and immigrated to Israel in 1936. He studied at the Carmel School in Tel Aviv, He joined the Lehi underground and said he had two mothers, the mother and the homeland, and he had to help both of them, but had to choose the latter over the former. During the War of Independence, he joined the army, despite his being only 16 at the time. Moshe served in the armored and reconnaissance battalion and participated in all the battles of this battalion. He was known among his comrades for his courage and devotion to the homeland. He did not know a feeling of fear. On the 4th of Tamuz, July 11, 1948, in the Battle of Beit-Nabala, Moshe was killed by a machine-gun in a fierce battle in which he fought until the end and did not retreat. He was brought to rest in the military cemetery In Nahalat Yitzhak.
