Goldberg, Gil


Son of Nili and Leon. Born on December 19, 1967 in Ramat Hasharon, he grew up and was educated in the city. He completed his elementary studies in Ramat Hasharon and continued his physical studies at the Ramat Hasharon High School. In the middle of February 1986, Gil was drafted into the army, and after completing basic training, he completed a course in the Merkava class and was assigned to serve as a Merkava in the Armored Corps on 18.1.1988. Gil was seriously injured and rushed to Hadassah Hospital in Ein Karem, where he died of his wounds, and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind his parents and two brothers, Tal and Elad. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “… Gil’s tragic death struck all of us hard. son of Yakar, a model soldier, a professional in the field of tank artillery at the highest level, disciplined and pleasant, friendly to his friends and commanders … “
