Golan, Steve


Steve, son of Dorit and Daniel Golan, was born in Jerusalem in 1982 and grew up in the community of Givaat Zeev.’ Steve joined the IDF at the end of November 2000 and served in the Air Force as a fighter in the aircraft Stinger missiles. In the course of his service, he completed a brigade commanders’ course with honors and at the end he became a full-time faculty member, first as a commander of recruits at the Naval School, and later as a division sergeant. Toward the end of his military service, Steve chose to volunteer for an aviation course. In May 2004, he was diagnosed with leukemia. After fighting the disease for about a year, he died on February 11, 2005 and was buried in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving his parents, two brothers and a sister.
