Godynetsky, Avraham


Son of Margalit and Lev, he was born on July 14, 1962, in the Caucasus, in the Soviet Union. Avraham began his studies at the elementary school in his native country. In 1975 he immigrated with his parents to Israel, and the family settled in Migdal Haemek. Avraham was the youngest son in a family with four children. When he arrived in Israel, he studied briefly in a Hebrew ulpan, was sent to a boarding school in Shfayim and studied for two years. Afterward, Avraham moved to the Miften vocational school in Migdal Ha’Emek, in the framework of mechanical frameworks. He was a diligent student and loved by people. Avraham was a good athlete and participated in national land wrestling competitions (Sambo), and won a silver medal (second place) and bronze medal (third place). In May 1980, Avraham enlisted in the IDF, and after completing general training, he volunteered to serve in the Border Police, and when the Peace for Galilee War broke out, Avraham was with his unit in routine security positions in Lebanon. On the 25th of Cheshvan 5743 (11.11.1982) In the military government building in Tire, the building collapsed and buried its inhabitants, among them Avraham. He was 20 years old when he died, and was promoted to Corporal. Avraham was laid to rest in the civil cemetery in Migdal Ha’emek. He left behind his parents, brother and two sisters.
