Yisrael (Karl), son of Minna and Yaakov Glikzem, born in Vienna, Austria on June 9, 1909. In 1938, he fled to Switzerland and was forced to stay there for more than six months. He married, made aliyah, and they opened a laundry in Bat Yam. On September 24, 1948, the post was attacked by the Arabs in violation of the truce. The defenders of the outpost were surprised and forced to retreat in light of the enemy’s superiority, and many were injured in the retreat. The next day, our forces attacked and conquered the outpost. This battle took place on the 20th of Elul 5708 (24.9.1948), and Yisroel fell in this battle, six weeks after his enlistment. A memorial was erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem because his burial place is not known.
