Mordechai went on to fight, even though he was a paramedic. In times of despair, he knew how to cheer everyone. On 4.5.1948 he excelled in a battle against the Arab Legion and Arab gangs on the “Mukhtar saddle”. When the unit withdrew from the area, he saw that a wounded member remained at the outpost, through gunfire, Mordechai dragged the wounded man to the hospital. When the wounded were transferred to Masuot Yitzhak, Mordechai wanted to remain in besieged Kfar Etzion. In the last battles Mordechai was wounded and fell when he returned to his post on the 4th of Iyar, May 13, 1948. Mordechai was brought to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, on the 5th of Iyar 5708 (May 17, 1948) .
