Glickman, Yosef
Son of Esther and Moshe, was born on 27.2.1929 in Tel Aviv. He began his studies at the Tel-Nordoi elementary school in Tel Aviv and completed his studies at the Ussishkin elementary school in Kfar Saba. He continued to study at the Herzliya high school in Tel Aviv, but managed to finish seven classes before moving to the ranks of the defender as an activist during the struggle. While he was a high school student, he was a Hagam instructor and even neglected his studies in order to fulfill his obligation to the Haganah. The United Nations on partition was devoted entirely to the Haganah’s work within the Kiryati Brigade. He joined the “A” company of the People’s Guard, served in Atudot Lechish in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, and in March 1948 he was attached to the headquarters of the People’s Guard and a second lieutenant. In May, he graduated with honors with a course in wireless engineering. He served as a sniper at the battalion headquarters in Tzrifin and also instructed others in the radio. On Wednesday, 11.6.1948, the day of the first truce, he volunteered to serve as a radio liaison in a unit that went on a tour of the vicinity of Zrifin, and according to his command, he excelled in his last action, The military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.
