Glickman, Yochanan


Son of Klara and Lupo, was born in Romania on January 21, 1929. Janko immigrated to Israel as part of the “Youth Aliya” in May 1946 on the ship “Max Nordau-Smyrni.” Immediately upon arriving in Israel he joined Kibbutz Gat and stayed there for about a year “After the UN General Assembly voted on partition, Yohanan decided to volunteer for service and was assigned to the second battalion of the Givati ​​Brigade. Yochanan took part in the “Hametz” operation in the battle of Tel Arish on May 28, 1948, where he was mortally wounded. Two days later, on May 30, 1948, he died of his wounds. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
