At the beginning of 1946, the couple came to Israel with an aliya permit and joined Kfar Etzion, Akiva adapted himself to kibbutz life, found a circle of friends for opinion and aspirations, and participated in Talmud classes that he taught daily before the public service, At the beginning of his arrival in Israel he participated in Haganah training and when the siege period began, his wife, who was pregnant and his eldest son, remained in Jerusalem, where they traveled on the occasion of the child’s illness, and his second son, Who was born in Jerusalem, did not get to see, during the months of the siege of Gush Etzion he devoted himself to communications, installing an alarm system and a telephone-field network between the headquarters and the settlements, positions, and commandos. He continued until the very last moment of his faith in God’s salvation, and on the eve of Passover 5708 he participated in the conclusion of the tractate instead of his eldest son, and on the day before he repaired the telephone line between the headquarters and the Russian monastery during the great attack. On the following day, 4 Iyar 5708 (13.5.1948), when the Legion armored cars broke into the center of the village, he managed to slip out with a few friends and reach the” Shir Hashirim” grove , Where they were murdered. On the fifteenth day of March 17, 1949, he was brought together with the other victims of the Gush to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
