Givon, Oded


He was born on the 12th of Av 5761 (14.8.1951) before “Shabbat Nachamu,” and he was named Oded. Oded grew up in the neighborhood of “Ramat Shaul” on the slopes of the Carmel, and became a child full of grace and smiles. Everywhere friends were attracted to him, and he captivated the hearts of adults and young people with his Loving smile, his friendly attitude, his perfect manners and his fresh mischief. Oded completed his studies at Ramot Elementary School and was a member and instructor of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. He loved nature and the landscape with all his heart, and hiking was a most enjoyable time for him. walking, cycling, in the car, with a friend or two, in a big group and also with the family. When he got his first camera, he began shooting at every opportunity. The camera accompanied him everywhere-to the end. Among his hobbies were collecting stamps and sports, and especially loved swimming in the sea. Oded had an outstanding talent for the game, and was amused by those who were close to him in his playful and funny plays. When he reached Bar mitzva, Oded went up to the Torah, and in his evening voice he sang the haftarah, “Nachamu, Nachamu Ami.” Oded continued his high school studies at the vocational school again and studied instrumentation. Where he excelled in his interest in and skill in technique, in his positive attitude to work, and in the meticulous and responsible execution of his work. When he finished his studies, he traveled with his good friend for a trip abroad. They planned the trip for a long time, but two weeks later the brother of his friend fell, and together they returned to Israel. Oded was drafted into the IDF in November 1969 and assigned to the Ordnance Corps, where he completed a course for a turret technician and served in the Armored Corps until July 1971, when he arrived at the officer’s course, and on 8 February 1972 he was ordained as an armaments officer. In 1971, Oded married his girlfriend from his youth and their daughter was born in 1972. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Oded served in the regular army, On the seventh day of the war, on the 17th of Tishrei 5734 (October 13, 1973), Oded left the jeep in order to locate damaged tanks. the jeep went on a mind Oded was killed on Saturday in the Golan Heights and was promoted to the rank of Captain Oded was brought to burial in Kiryat Tivon, where he left behind a wife, daughter, parents, brother, and sister Oded the Cheerful, A good grandson and a good friend, and above all a good friend in every sense of the word, always willing to give it all, without expecting anything.
