Gitmol, Gal

Ben Ofra and Eitan. He was born on the 29th of Adar 2, 5744 (2.4.1984) in Moshav Ben Shemen in the Judean Lowland. He studied at the regional elementary school at the Ben Shemen Youth Village, the regional junior high school in Shoham, and the “Ala” science high school, and was active in the “Bnei Hamoshavim” youth movement and guided it. During his adolescence he found a way to combine his love for guidance and animals and spent most of his free time teaching at the Monkey Park in the Ben Shemen Forest, which was characterized by his broad smile and abundant joie de vivre. He was surrounded by family and friends who enjoyed his company and his pleasant personality In a wave of numbers, his joy of life is reflected in the incessant rhythm of life, his rapid speech, his endless smile and the little things that made him unique, such as taking a picture of each trip while standing on his hands. And he volunteered for Magen David Adom, and was happy to have been given the opportunity to contribute and save lives, and as a result of this love, he signed the “Adi” card of the National Transplant Center. On 8 January 2003, he began a pilot course at the Air Force Flight School in Hatzerim. When his participation in the course was stopped, he moved to serve as a controller in the control unit at Mount Meron. In the winter of 2005 he began his service in the regular army and is already an officer. Gal surprised everyone when he was diagnosed with cancer during his military service. Despite the many difficulties and treatments, Gal did not let him change the course of his life and fought to continue serving in the army. Gal has a rare motivation and extraordinary willpower. He was the kind of officer who was pleasant to work with, self-disciplined, determined and energetic and personable. Another manifestation of his love of life was his many hobbies. Gal liked singing, playing saxophone, photography, scuba diving, mountaineering, bicycling and ATVs. In July 2006, Gal was appointed as an operator in the UAV squadron, and his friends said that his desire to contribute was a starting point for all his activities in the squadron, and that he was willing to undertake many tasks without any personal comfort. As an officer, he stood out in his readiness for every mission and sense of responsibility that he had in. Gal can be said to have been a true fighter, an adventurer, yet he never forgets and does not neglect his professional commitments Gal fell during his duties on December 9, 2006 He was laid to rest in the military section of the Hadid cemetery, leaving his parents, brother Bechor, Tal and a younger sister After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of captain, and in the memory of Gal, the National Navigation Association organizes navigation events in mountain bikes every April.
