Gitlitz, Yisrael
Yisrael, son of Shimon and Gittel Gitlitz, was born on November 17, 1929 in Dulanow, Poland. As a boy he followed his mother in the forests of White Russia and Poland during World War II. He participated in the local partisan activities. Before making aliyah to Eretz Yisrael, Yisrael joined the Haganah and, after completing a short training period, was sent to Israel in 1949 to participate in the War of Independence. On the 22nd of Tammuz 5709 (19.7.1949) he fell in the line of duty and was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
