Ginger, Shlomo (Shlomik)
Son of Miri and Meir Aminof. He was born on the 9th of Sivan 5769 (9.6.1969) in Tel Aviv. When he was four, his father fell on the Egyptian front in the Yom Kippur War. Three years later his mother married Abraham Zangbil, who legally adopted Shlomo and his sister Lihi. The family lived in Sde Boker and Shlomo attended the state school at Kibbutz Mashabei Sadeh. After graduating from elementary school, he continued his studies at Misgav High School in Mitzpeh Ramon. Shlomo excelled in mathematics and physics and read and listen to music. He loved singing and playing the guitar. Shlomo was drafted into the IDF in November 1987. Shlomo planned to move to one of the elite units, but during the first stages of selection at the induction center, on the 12th of Cheshvan 5787 (November 12, 1987), he fell during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, two sisters – Lihi and Orit and two brothers – Eliezer and Yoav. As an outstanding athlete, the school’s management, in cooperation with the family, initiated an annual basketball competition in his name, which takes place every year at the end of winter
