Gilford, Frank Robert


Son of Gary and Sam, was born on April 4, 1954. Frank grew up in a non-traditional, non-Zionist Jewish home, where his mother sent him to the Young Judea youth movement to get an idea of ​​Jewish identity. He was active in the movement, led youth groups, was a member of the regional board, and even performed with his folk dances, where he grew up and studied in Dallas, Texas, and when he finished high school, Frank came to Israel as part of a one-year program of “Young Judea.” He was interested in all subjects related to Zionism: knowledge of the land, Jewish thought, Jerusalem, Hebrew language and Hebrew literature, and that year he decided to immigrate to Israel, He immigrated to Israel in 1978 at the age of 23. He lived in Jerusalem with his wife for two years, and his love for Jerusalem was great, and he knew every corner of it, but he wanted to build the country in a more pioneering way, In 1981, Frank enlisted in the IDF and two weeks before completing basic training, he was killed by a vehicle. He fell in the course of his duties on January 1, 1982, and was brought to eternal rest on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, where Frank had a strong and determined character and a husband who fought them, and loved everything he loved. In the army he was discovered as a model soldier, disciplined and ready to help at any time.
