Gilboa, Zali
Zali (Zalman), son of Tachiya and Dov, was born on 11.11.1944 in Kibbutz Afikim. He was active in reserve duty during the Six-Day War and participated in the battle for Jerusalem. During the Yom Kippur War, he served as a jeep commander on the southern front, and his battalion fought in the difficult battles; he was among the sailors on the Suez Canal. Near the Great Bitter Lake, west of Fayed, Zali was killed by an Egyptian aircraft, on October 21, 1973. On October 11, 1956, seventeen years earlier, his brother Ido fell in the battle of Qalqiliya. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery of Kibbutz Afikim. Survived by a wife, a daughter born after his death, father, mother and sister.
