Giladi, Mordechai
Mordechai, son of Miriam and Abraham, was born on March 28, 1941 in Jerusalem and studied at the Or Haim elementary school in Jerusalem and at the kibbutz high school in Kibbutz Dalia, and was orphaned from his mother when he was three days old and in his childhood He lived in an adoptive family, in the home of step-parents and in various institutions, and was forced to overcome many hardships, and his brother fell in the War of Independence, where he found his first real home when he came to Kibbutz Dalia. Mordechai was drafted into the IDF at the end of January 1960 and assigned to a paratroop brigade. After completing basic training, he was awarded paratrooper wings, and during the Six Day War he fought in the framework of the Paratroopers Brigade in the battles in Jelbina and Dardera, in the Golan Heights, and in 1969 he underwent a combat paramedics course and since then served as a medic in combat units in the reserves. To the “Egged” cooperative, and when he began to settle, he married his girlfriend Dalia, and eventually they had two sons, and Mordechai did all he could to give his sons a warm home and a sense of security that he lacked in his childhood. He took care of them, spoiled them, and loved them. He was very attached to his family and worked hard to improve the financial situation and give as much comfort as he could. In the Yom Kippur War, Mordechai refused to serve in a back-yard unit and went out in a hospital ambulance to be with his comrades in the unit and serve as a combat medic. On the 9th of Tishrei 5734 (October 9, 1973), he fell while performing his duties near a restaurant on the Golan Heights and was brought to eternal rest in the Mount Herzl cemetery. He left behind a wife and two sons. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
