Giladi-Kaufman, Moshe


Moshe, son of Yael and Gedaliah Kaufman, was born on March 30, 1927 in Haifa. When he was 16, he joined a training nucleus at Tel Yosef and Givat Brenner. He changed his family name to the name of the underground, Giladi, and was known as such to his friends. From the beginning of the War of Independence, Moshe served in the Negev Brigade of the Palmach. On the night of 17-18 July 1948, the “Death to the Intruder” operation was carried out with the aim of breaking through the Negev. On 11 Tamuz, July 18, 1948, the day before the second truce, Moshe was found dead and taken to a grave in Ruchama. On 26.6. 1950, he was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery in the village of Varburg.
