Giladi, Benjamin (“Benny”),


Son of Habib and Mutram. He was born in 1946 in Israel and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1952. He studied at the Magenim Elementary School in Kiryat Shmona and later took part in a framework course and studied at the Ort Hanichachot school in Ramat Gan, He was an independent and responsible youth, and from a young age he helped his parents with the agriculture of the house, and was drafted into the IDF in February 1964 and assigned to the supply force. After basic training, and after completing a driving course, he was sent to a supply base. A while later in his position he was ordained as a butcher. At the end of his regular service, Benjamin volunteered for the career army and was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He advanced quickly in his position and in 1970 was promoted to the rank of master sergeant.In his testimony on Binyamin, his commanders noted him as “an efficient, orderly and disciplined soldier, diligent, reliable and dedicated, with great professional knowledge and ability to function in various areas of the unit.” And despite his rigidity and his many demands from his subordinates, he appreciated them and their love. On July 30, 1975, Benjamin fell while serving in an active reserve duty in the south of the country. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. To commemorate his memory, the family contributed financially to the establishment of the Ein-Shalom synagogue in Kiryat Herzog.
