Gilad (Galinansky), Nir


Son of Chaya and Aharon. Born on the 15th of Adar, March 15, 1968 in Ramat Hasharon. In 1986, Nir enlisted in a pilot course and graduated as an outstanding trainee. Nir was ordained as a captain, guide and operational leader in the “Desert Birds” squadron. He participated in all operational activities of the “Rolling Sword” Squadron and took an active part in various routine security operations in Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Lebanon. In 2006 Nir took an active part in the Second Lebanon War and later participated in Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, while carrying out complex launches under fire. On Friday, the 10th of Elul, September 9, 2011, Nir passed away during the formation of the squadron’s fighters. He was buried at the cemetery in Kibbutz Horshim.
