Gibary, Chaim
Son of Hurassi and Yehezkel was born on November 18, 1915 in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria, and completed seven high school classes. From his youth he belonged to the Hashomer Hatzair movement and was a clear swimmer. He began his military training in Bulgaria, where he served two years as a corporal in an artillery unit. In 1938, he immigrated to Israel and joined the “Hashomer Hatzair” kibbutz from Eretz Israel, currently Hatzor. Haim worked in the carpentry shop, in the orchard and was a shepherd. He took upon himself any arduous work and carried it out with a joy of creation, faithfully, quietly and precisely. Chaim was a strong, broad-shouldered man, kind and smiling, loved and loved by all his friends, rooted in the nature of the country and familiar with all its paths. During the Second World War he joined the British Army and moved to the Jewish Brigade. During the War of Independence he was among the defenders of Hatzor. In the “Yoav” operation to break the road to the Negev, he set out for the outpost near Negba and on the 25th of Tishrei 5710 (25.10.1948), he fell in the shelling on Hill 113 and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery at Kibbutz Hatzor. His kibbutz issued a pamphlet in his memory: “Gibri”.
