Since he was the oldest of the boys and the first to enlist in the IDF from his family, his parents wanted him to be Simcha and marry a wife so that they would be able to see offspring from their son, but their dream was not fulfilled. On September 5, 1969, when he was on an operational tour of the Arava region, his vehicle fell on a mine. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in his native village.
